At Schaffer, we believe the most memorable events begin with a story. This September, we had the pleasure of bringing that philosophy to the Women in Toys Wonder Women Awards at Paramount Studios, celebrating the women whose imagination, ingenuity, and leadership have shaped the world of toys and entertainment. As a women-owned company, the evening held particular meaning for our team, offering a chance to celebrate women who turned bold ideas into cultural touchstones while bringing our own creativity to the table.
For the evening’s hors d’oeuvres, we took inspiration from the games and toys created by some of the industry’s pioneering women. Platters became playful tributes to Monopoly creator Elizabeth Magie, Candy Land creator Eleanor Abbott, Barbie visionary Ruth Handler, Shrinky Dinks inventors Betty Morris and Kathryn Bloomberg, Centipede creator Dona Bailey, and Jenga creator Leslie Scott. Game elements were woven directly into the presentation, transforming the food into an experience that invited guests to look twice, reminisce, and engage with the stories behind some of the most beloved games of all time.
The evening was also a celebration of our longstanding partnership with Paramount, making our role in the event all the more meaningful. From the women who reimagined what a toy could be to the women shaping the industry today, the Wonder Women Awards offered a powerful reminder of what happens when creativity is given room to grow. We were proud to honor that legacy in our own way, with thoughtful food, imaginative design, and a little bit of play.
